AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT

Coding Class

Students will learn how to write computer code by following directions and using logical sequences.

8 sessions beginning on March 3, 2020

Tuesday /Thursday 2:45 - 4:15 (full)

Wednesday/Friday 2:45 - 4:15 ( space still available)

Cost: $110 if your child is already signed up for aftercare

This year Montessori Children's School will offer 4 weeks of camp for MCS students at both the Primary level and 5 weeks at the Elementary level.

Week 1 - Exploring the Cosmos with Mrs. Brusaw

June 29 - July 3

Come and explore outer space with Mrs. Brusaw! Learn all about the planets and the stars and galaxies. Do some awesome hands-on science projects to illuminate how things in the universe work! It will be out of this world!!

Week 2 - Dive into Prehistoric Times with Mrs. Brusaw

July 13 - 17

Enjoy a week of learning about dinosaurs, fossils and prehistoric times. The fossil pit is just the tip of the iceberg!!

Week 3 - Fairy Week with Ms. Sydney

July 20 - July 24

Fairy Camp at Children’s Montessori School of Jacksonville is a week full of imagination and creativity! Primary students will spend the week immersed in the magical world of fairies, unicorns, and all things mythical. Campers will have the opportunity to build fairy houses using materials from our beautiful campus, create magical wands and fairy wings, and cook up unicorn slime! Additionally, students will have the opportunity to go on nature walks through our enchanted woods, hear stories that spark the imagination, and of course, play! By the end of the week, students will be overflowing with creativity and be able to see the magic in the everyday.

Week 4 - Bees and Pollinators with Mrs. Gurganus

July 27 - July 31

Join Mrs, Gurganus to learn about the vital role that bees play in our everyday lives. See how a wearing a bee suit feels and check out a honeycomb frame. There will be lots of fun activities and crafts and plenty of outdoor time! Come and see what the buzz is all about!!

Elementary Camps

Montessori Children's School is excited to invite current MCS Elementary students as well as rising MCS Elementary students to enroll in our Elementary Enrichment Camps!

Week 1- The Story of our Universe

June 15 - June 19

The children will meet the Universe and hear the story of how the Universe began. The children will participate in space themed work all week, will learn the names of the planets and participate in a solar system layout on the playground. The children will work on building constellations while learning the stories behind them. We will be cooking, doing art projects and writing constellation stories. They will also be creating their own constellations. Come explore the galaxy with us!

Campers will have the opportunity to use cultural work that relates to weekly topics. On Friday, we will enjoy a fun-filled water afternoon! The children can wear or bring bathing suits and there will be water balloons and toys!


Week 2 - The Story of Life

June 22-June 26

How did life on earth begin? We will explore how life on the planet Earth began with the tiniest of bacteria and follow its path the the mightiest dinosaur! We will be examining authentic fossils like archaeologists, digging for fossils and creating our own! Cooking, art, writing, and movement are just some of the activities we will be enjoying this week. Come and learn about all of the animals that came before us!

Campers will have the opportunity to use cultural work that relates to weekly topics. On Friday, we will enjoy a fun-filled water afternoon! The children can wear or bring bathing suits and there will be water balloons and toys!


Week 3 - The Story of Math and Language

June 29 - July 3

How did the first humans communicate with each other? This week, the Universe will tell the children a story about the origins of math and language. The children will learn about how names were first formed and then they will create their own unique prehistoric names. They will write their names in hieroglyphics and other languages. The children will also be shown and different types of numbers and math like roman numerals. Activities will include making a cartouche, creating a cuneiform tablet, cooking, science experiments and creative writing. Every morning, we will have a work cycle. The children will work on math and language work.

Campers will have the opportunity to use cultural work that relates to weekly topics. On Friday, we will enjoy a fun-filled water afternoon! The children can wear or bring bathing suits and there will be water balloons and toys!

Week 4 - A Week of Mindfulness

July 13 -July 17

The Mindfulness Camp at Montessori Children's School will provide Elementary students with a full week of meditation, yoga, art, and so much more! Students will have morning and afternoon yoga practices along with guided meditations and nature walks. Additionally, there will be interactive mindfulness lessons and of course, plenty of outdoor playtime! Mindfulness has countless benefits including emotional regulation and concentration. Give your child the opportunity to turn inward and learn how to be mindful in our fast pace world through a week of mindfulness with Ms. Sydney.


Week 5 - Harry Potter's World

Ms. Ginnie and Ms. Lauren

July 20 - July 24

Elementary students will have a full week of Harry Potter fun! We will be reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone during the morning and afternoon with guided lessons that correspond with the literacy, science, math, art, and so much more that is found throughout the book. Students work together within their “Houses” on projects. Our fun filled week will end on Friday where we will have a great feast and watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone together in our pajamas.
